I purchased the USB-C to HDMI adapter and it works but it is a lower resolution.  My monitors are both 4k but I do not get that quality when using 2 monitors.

You could get a VGA to HDMI cable which will require and external power source since it is converting analog to digital. Just note that this will affect color and resolution. Another option would be to look into a universal type C dock. That would likely get better performance than just USB C to HDMI.

I used a VGA to VGA cord. Worked great.
