It will work with any type of paper that's designed to work with inkjet printers (some paper is designed to work with just laser printers-it will say on the paper package. And photo paper is designed to work with inkjet printers only. As for the differences between laser and inkjet printers, inkjet printers lay down liquid ink on the paper, which is absorbed by the paper, where as a laser printer used a dry toner that's made up of tiny beads (much less than 1/100th of an inch) which are laid down on the paper and then melted into the paper. That's why laser printers require paper that's designed for it-because of the heat that the paper goes through when melting the toner, some papers (mainly photo papers, but there are others) don't react well to the heat.
