The photos are printed with a thermal, heat, process. No ink. Special paper required. The larger quantity purchased the less expensive.

The HP Sprocket printers are not compatible with Instant Ink and they do not use ink, all they need is the special HP Sprocket ZINK paper.

No ink needed, it is all in the special paper. It will not work with standard inkjet paper. Prints are about .40 each.

It uses a special photo paper that is really inexpensive, especially in comparison to instax camera film. Would definitely recommend!
