Yes, you can mute the mic with the In-line audio control that connects directly to your Xbox one controller.. I use Xbox one and use the mic mute

Modern Warfare 3 my Gamer Character’s Mic Is Now Muted How Do I Unmute My Character.The Headset Is Working I Tested It. But Now I Noticed My Character’s Mic Is Muted, Please Help
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Using this one on a PS4 and have not tried using it on XBox. For the Xbox you should be able to control the mic volume if you have the mic control that plugs into the controller if not simply pull the mic out of the headset.
