• Yeah you can hear yourself and others. It has mic monitoring which is a great feature. This feature can also be turned off if you don't like it.

• If you want to play on your own and hear where footsteps are coming from this headset is great. If you want to can at with friends while playing online I recommend the one ear cheap headset that XBOX makes for like $25
