• The same thing happened to me. I purchases a Asus monitor (VG245) with it. I found out by accident, there is a small knob on the back right followed by several buttons. By pressing the knob in and pushing the knob down to the audio section. Pull over the the right and scroll down to source. Make sure that the audio source is selected as “Line In.” I heard Cortana in mid speak, she still couldn’t hear me which is fine. Solved it half way..... Hope this helps to some!!! Good luck!!!!!

• hi I'm hero! the tower does not come with speakers! however it does have a audio jack in the back for speakers and a headset jack on top !! hope I helped!!

• my monitor has speakers so I got sound via HDMI, but I too am annoyed that there is no digital optical output
