Adding on to Rich's answer, which I agree with 100%, it also depends on what you mean by modify. As in replace with a water-cooled system? You'll need to know how much vertical clearance you'll need to install something like that. There's quite a bit of space above the CPU, the outer case is 8.25" wide outer dimensions, but better not to guess and hope. And I'm also wondering why? The CPU can't be overclocked, so why mess with the factory cooling system?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The fan used on the cooler is the standard edition Intel approved one. If you want to upgrade it you can, just like any other cooler replacement. You take the old one off, clean the thermal compound off the processor, add new compound per the recommendations that came with it (check Youtube), attach the new cooler with the hardware that it came with. But the first question is why do you want to do this? The existing cooler is fine. You could add another case fan if you wanted, a lot cheaper and easier.
