“How do you turn off the lights, whether the computer is on or off?”

In the back of the computer is the main power supply switch. Snap this off in order to turn off the mouse and keyboard lights. (I have mine plugged into a power strip so I can just shut it on/off since I cannot reach the back of my computer easily.)
