• If you mean, ‘can one device use the top plug while another charging cable uses the back-USB,’ then yes. I plug my iPhone into the USB on the back of the iHome while my old iPod Touch uses the dock on the top of it, and they both charge.

• You can charge either device using the USB outlet on the back of the unit, however the dock connector can only connect to an Apple phone with the recessed area for the device to sit in.
