• As long as you have it set on your iPhone and you make sure you are in DOCK mode on the base it should use the speaker on the base to announce your alarm. I haven't used it specifically yet. However, I've used radio apps while it is anchored to the base and they work fine.

• Yes. The alarm set on the phone will go off as normal but will not come through the speakers of the unit.
