“How much of the time should the compressor motor run? If I put away groceries in the morning, the compressor motor seems to run almost constantly for the rest of the day. Is this normal?”

This refrigerator has a 40-minute duty cycle. That means that, generally speaking, within any 40-minute period, it will spend about half that time running and about half that time off (so about 20 minutes running and 20 minutes off). That’s if the doors to the freezer and fresh-food sections are left closed and the temperature in the room is about 35° F warmer than the temperature the fresh-food section is set at. (So, for example, if the room is 72° F and the fresh food section is set at 37° F, that’s a 35° F difference.) If one or both of the doors are opened and closed and/or warm food is added, that will make it run more. Also, if the room it’s in is warmer, that will make it run more. For example, if it’s in a hot environment, like a garage in summertime, it might have to run all the time to compensate. Also, since the fresh-food section is cooled by cold air that drops down from the freezer section, if the freezer section is set too warm, that may cause the refrigerator to run more in order to cool the fresh-food section to the desired temperature.
