“I just got this soundbar to go with a recently purchased 55 inch Insignia TV to increase the sound quality. I have it connected to the tv using the RCA connections. The volume is very low. Do I need to check another setting?”

If it's an Insignia TV I think the TV remote should also control the soundbar volume but still try to increase the volume using the soundbar's remote and also try increasing the volume with the volume button directly on the soundbar. If you've tried all those things and the volume is still low, then I would try using an optical cable and see if that helps.
