I am not 100% sure. The remote with the sound bar is very basic (choose input, power, volume). I set the max volume that I wanted on the sound bar (using the sound bar remote) and leave the sound bar on. I adjust the volume as needed while watching TV using the TV remote. I haven't used the sound bar remote since it was set up. I just leave it turned on. It would be nice if the sound bar could be powered off of USB or something on the TV so both would go on/off at the same time (therefore with just one remote)
