Technically yes, what it does is turn an internal hard drive into an external, you will still need to format the hard drive. But I would not use this device and an internal hard drive connected as the hard drive can wobble as they stand vertically. You are better off waiting for a sale and getting an enclosed and vented hard drive, I personally use an 8TB Western Digital Easy store 3.0 USB, It is a desktop back up but works wonderfully for the PS4.

Yes it should work as long as the drive is set up and formatted correctly. It's really no different than any other external usb3 enclosure
