If you have nothing valuable on that hard drive i would recommenced reformatting it completely and trying it again. If the problem persist try connecting it directly inside in a 2nd drive bay in the PC itself to see if it gives you the same problem.

When the computer comes back on, log in, then plug in the USB cable from your insignia drive to your computer again. I bought this unit because my power supply went out on my desktop computer. I plugged it in to my laptop and it worked fine for me.
