It will only work with SATA drives. I haven't used mine with WD drives so I don't know for sure but it should be fine.

It only has SATA connectors. Any 2.5" or 3.5" SATA hard drive should work with it. I think there is a maximum capacity limit however (maybe 6 or 8 TB???).

It works with SATA drives only. It is not brand name specific. Just uses (2.5” and 3.5”) SATA HDDs and SATA SDDS.
