I didn't have to format any drive to use this. I just stuck them in and they showed up with an assigned drive letter and was immediately accessible.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I do not know your situation, but in general you can put in the drive that has the files and copy them to your computer or another drive. You should not have to format the drive to pull off the files
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.What OS are you using? What format are the hard drives in? PC to PC it should not be asking, to format them. Mac OS to Mac OS should not be asking either? But if you are going from one to the other PC to Mac or Mac to PC you will need to add features to either OS to support the other formats.
