A shorted out drive will cause it to power off, plug the drive into the dock, BEFORE, you power on the docking station.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had the exact same problem! Just as you described, NEITHER my WD 4TB and Seagate 22 TB drives would show up in Windows Explorer as an openable drive, even though the drives WERE displaying as connected in the list of connected devices in the Settings app (with serial # of docking station) and in the control panel app (with serial # of WD and Seagate respectively). Plates were turning in both drives, and LEDs were displaying as on on docking station. Geek Squad (all 3 tiers of agents) were not able to resolve (or even grammatically comprehend) the problem. Two of them did not seem to even know what a SATA docking station is or even be fluent in Standard English. If anyone can please identify and resolve the issue, I will consider repurchasing this product. May I ask what is the make/model of your laptop/desktop?
