DirecTV should have a box that you have to run through first, the connection to the TV from their box should be as simple as connecting the HDMI to the HDMI in port and selecting HDMI 1 from the fire TV menu. You cannot connect the DirecTV coax directly to the cable in, as the signal needs to be decided by their hardware first
