The unit is brand new out of the box. The compressor only seems to turn on in short bursts with cool air (max 10-20 seconds), otherwise just blows out warm air. This doesn't seem normal. Is there a way to troubleshoot this or is the unit defective? null

Try turning the thermostat down 5-6 degrees and see if it keeps running. Honestly, I didn't read the directions for this unit, but I know a lot of units and window units, heating units, etc. will have a 2-4 degree spot where they will go to a fan mode. Think it's some energy saving thing or something. If it keeps doing that then, then I'd say it's defective.
