“does it have to attached to the window, or is there a way I can set it up without having to use the tube for the window feature? I have really bad allergies to pollen and I don't want that "open window" to mess with my allergies.”

The warm air does have to be vented somewhere. Either out a window, or a chimney...

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The exhaust must be vented outside somehow, either through a window or hole, as the unit sucks the hot air from the room and vents it out the hose to cool the area it is placed in.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It comes with enough sticky foam to seal up all around the window slides and your window. No air should leak in. And it blows the air out the exhaust hose to the outside.
