“Is there a way I can set this TV to stay on the HDMI input when I turn the TV off and back on? My cable box is using the HDMI input, and it would be nice if I didn't have to select the HDMI input every time I turn on the TV when I want to watch cable.”

I tried the solution mentioned here and yes it worked at least one time. However I still haven't found closed captioning for HDMI cable whereas it does on EVERY Roku Smart TV I have had or have.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It does not go to the last input which I choose as HDMI every time when I turn it off. I mostly watch Cable TV. It goes to Home Screen and I still have to direct it to HDMI after a lengthy turn on session. Taking it back as soon as I can get it back in the box. It lacks other simple features and remote or something seems off.

This will allow you to go the last input you where watching e.g. HDMI 2. Settings> Display & Sounds> Power On> Last Input used. We will take this in consideration for future references.
