A:Answer Ours had a thin protective film around it. After we peeled that off, it didn't get as hot. The sides are made of metal, so it seems like a better heat sink than with the film, but there was nothing on the docs that said remove the film, so it's a up to you to make the decision. I went as far as unscrewing the top to get all the film off of it, and rescrewed it back on.
