A:AnswerI would be surprised if any bugs would get inside the freezer. People have used "dead " freezers for animal feed and grains. And if it's running I don't know of any bug that's attracted to 0 degrees. The shell of the freezer, on the other hand could become a harbor for critters. In our northern climate we have bugs and mice that seek out warmer spots to overwinter. Up here we don't have a problem with snakes but I'm thinking you might? I guess I would take duct tape and tape screen over the venting. You HAVE to allow air flow.. If I was REALLY paranoid I would maybe even get a large piece to put under the freezer and come up the sides. Depends on just how bad the pests are and if you care how pretty things look. With me, practical and low budget wins over always. (I might have concerns about how efficient the freezer can run in a hot environment)
