“I have a 27 in imac 2011 I want to use my imac as a display monitor for my window desktop computer will this cable work by connecting into the thunderport imac and into my displayport graphic card and will it run the full 2560x1200 ? Thanks”

• The Insignia mini display port to displayport cable should work on you 2011 iMac. But the mini display port to hdmi will not work.

• According to Apple you can only use Target Display Mode with other Macs that have either a Thunderbolt or Mini DisplayPort. The iMac won't enter Target Display Mode from a Windows source.

• If your iMac can do target display mode, then yes, you can use it as an external display for a PC. I’m doing exactly that with a 2009 iMac.
