• Cat 6 has a thicker insulation around the wire so I would use the cat 6

• If you connecting it directly to the wall it does not matter frankly, I would actually go with a CAT 5 because of price. Cat 6 is the better option if you are using it across long distances say from the office to the living room.

• I ran 100' of cat 6 cable through a wall, up through the ceiling, across the attic and down through the ceiling again to my tv without any problems. Works great, good luck.
