Consider any difference in weight between the tops as affecting the specified weight capacity of the desk. To use simple numbers to keep the math easy, suppose the original top is 10 pounds and your new top is 20 pounds. That 10 pound difference then reduces the 110 pound weight capacity of the desk to 100 pounds.
