Why does my iPad 2 sometimes lose a charge? I always connect my iPad 2 to the same wall outlet using the same extension cord, but sometimes it will begin to lose its charge. Connections are secure. Have cell phone and fan connected to same extension cord. Is it the fault of the iPad cable? Have had it for about 4 years.

dropped signal or too close to other devices..unless the cables/plug are loose. happens with all devices occasionally .

I believe your IPad may be dying. I have an Ipad2 as well and now I can't get 100% charge as of last week. Today I was fortunate to get a 60%. That's the most I've had for a long time. I believe the life of this baby has come to an end. Take it to a nearby geek to see what they say?

Sometimes the cord is the reason. Replace cord and try different outlets before that. It should take care of problem.

If the mobile is an iPhone make certain that you are using the right USB Power Adapter; iPads require 10W minimum (I prefer 12W) whereas iPhones only need 5W. If you swap the adapters your Tablet charging will suffer. Alternatively, perhaps you are running too much load from the single outlet. Try deleting one (or both) of the other devices to check if you get better results (making sure you use the Tablet's USB Power Adapter).

The little pins on these cables get bent from use over time or if pulled out the wrong way. 4 years is a long time for a cable that is plugged in almost daily. I would say buy a new cable and you shouldn't have any more issues.

Check the cable near the two connectors. Mine split across the cable, and was hardly visible until I bent it. At 4 years I'd suspect the cable.

Mine was doing the exact same thing.
Come to find out, I had the apps set to restore the apps when the updates were available, so the iPad2 Air was constantly updating the apps. I turned that off and now it holds it's charge and I update at night when the iPad is charging. Problem solved.

Likely the age of the cable is a problem. Likely has a small short beginning. A new cable will not only fix the problem, but more importantly reduce the risk for a short and/or fire.

It is not your cable that is the issue it is the battery itself....Battery's can lose their charge over time.

It sounds like a faulty charging port. It could be the cable or it could be the phone. Without testing, there is no real way to determine what is at fault.
