• it still has an on and off switch that you have to toggle when not using or it will use battery.

• Hello Skeptical, It's not auto OFF but auto sleep mode because it knows to come back on the moment you hit the keyboard. It doesn't need much power to keep that mode. Insignia Support, Merjorie www.insigniaproducts.com/support
