Does this also work as a video output? Say I ran hdmi from Xbox to this box and hdmi from box to tv and optical from box to sound bar. Will I have both audio and video? null

Yes you will have both audio and video. I have a ps3 and I played sound from my speaker while using this product. The product comes with a rca connector to aux cable. So the only thing you need to worry is if you have the right components for the rca connector.

It should work. I'm using it with a different device (not XBOX), but in the exact same fashion as you have described. The HDMI input will convert the audio to digital optical (5.1) so you can connect it to a receiver/soundbar. Simultaneously, the HDMI-OUT lets you carry the signal to a TV, and will provide both audio and video. Keep in mind that the only audio options from the converter are 2-channel stereo or 5.1.

If your TV has an optical out you can plug the Xbox into the TV through HDMI and then run the optical to the sound bar. Your Xbox most likely has an optical out as well so you don’t need this.
