yes it does have a mute button located next to the volume control.

Hi Angie, It does have a mute switch, above the volume dial. It did somewhat confuse me at first because it did not seem to follow my logical way of thinking. To mute, place the switch in the OFF position, to un-mute place it in the ON position. I would have thought that Mute would be ON or OFF. But to answer your question Yes, it does have the switch and I did test it on multiple recordings to make sure it works! I hope that helps! Rich
