• Only on later made (2012 and later I think) Macbook pros. On earlier models, you also have to use an audio cable to get the sound from your Macbook Pro to the HDTV.

• I had this hub hooked up to an external WD drive connected with audio/video movies that's connected to my pc and it works fine.

• Yes you can heard audio. That is what HDMI is built for. Both video and audio through 19 pins. Some even can supply ethernet.
