I’ve had mine for a month. I don’t find it too difficult. I wipe it down after I’ve made enough cubes, then prop the top open so it can completely air dry. So far, so good.

Clean the interior with diluted detergent, warm water, and a soft cloth, then rinse with clear water. Clean the ice maker at least once a week or every three days if your water quality is poor. *Caution: Do not use bleach or vinegar to clean the internal components.

So far, it seems to be easy to keep the clean. I use the sink sprayer. Does great. I'd say, in the future, I'll be doing something to prevent mold. This machine is awesome. Drain it, every day, and refill it.

I clean it with a damp clothe. Keeps the water from leaving marks on the inside walls.
