• No, it cannot be hooked to a water line. It has an internal water reservoir.

• To fill your Portable Ice Maker pour drinking water only into the reservoir. Make sure that the water level is below the MAX line. Change the water in the water reservoir every 24 hours to ensure that the water is fresh and the ice tastes good. David M. - Insignia Support
