It is a bit loud. It makes a trickling sound when it's filling the ice trays. It hums a little bit when it's filling, too, and then the sound of the ice dumping into the tray can be heard from pretty much anywhere in our small house. It took a little getting used to, but it doesn't bother me. It might bother someone who is sensitive to sounds.
