“Would this be able to recover lost photos from the SD card? The RecoverIf program requires a drive letter and one doesn’t show up when I plug my camera into the USB port. Ideas?”

using the Insignia USB device that has a SD card in it. The drive will show up so you will be able to transfer files.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have never plugged my camera directly into my laptop. I use this SD card reader and remove the card from my camera and place it in this reader. It has always copied whatever photos I indicate to my HD. When my SD card reader quit working I knew it was the card reader and not my camera because I continued using my camera without any problems. When I placed the reader into the USB port it wasn't recognized. Guess I just wore it out! However, the new one - Insignia™ - USB 3.0 Memory Card Reader - works well and all my photos from my trip are now uploaded onto my HD.
