• It can do both and comes with both attachments. however, if you use the grommet attachment there doesn't seem to be a passthrough so your cables will no longer be able to come through that hole.

• The Ergonomic Dual Monitor Mount can mount on the edge of a table or through a hole on the desk. You would need to use the Grommet hardware if you prefer mounting it through a hole on a desk.
