Mine had a plastic cover over the front. There is a tab you can use to remove it. If that isn't the problem, make sure whatever program you're using is set to use this camera. It could be that the camera isn't selected, and the audio is coming from another source (internal mic, headset, etc)

I would recommend checking your video source in your video application, check your privacy settings to see if the webcam is allowed, make sure that you are plugging the webcam directly into a USB port on your computer.
