• Only the right earbud will work on its own. the left only works in conjunction with the right earbud.

• You can definitely use just the right one. Once you put both in and they're synced up just pop the left one out and the right one will continue to work. There may be a pause but if you just tap the right bud it'll start right back up, most of the time you don't even have to do that.

• You can use the right earbud alone for mono playback or for calls.

• You can use the one for your right ear by itself. I use the right one only for phone calls and pop both in to listen to music.
