Not if you use it by itself. Only the right bud works like that. The right bud also controls music and phone functions - like turning the music off or on or hanging up a call - so you definitely want to use it. It also has the only link to the external device. The left one just links to the right bud. Hope that helps!

Hello Mike - The Jabra Elite Active 65t connects to your mobile device via Bluetooth through the right earbud only. The left earbud connects to the right through a different radio technology. However, audio from calls are directed to both earbuds. Thank you.
