Yes, the person whom i was speaking with told me that they could hear everything going on in the background,which tells me that the microphone is very sensitive to the point of annoying for the person on the other side of the call. When I switched to using the speaker on my phone, I was told it was much better.

Yes, you are able to answer phone calls with these and talk through them as well. You can answer the call with a click on the earpiece. I have used them for several phone calls without issue. They will not provide professional grade audio from the microphones (to the person hearing you), but you can carry on easily with a conversation.
