• If you want to charge something, plug the u s b part in to the speaker and the c part into whatever you want to charge. If you're charging the speaker, it's vice versa

• Thanks for your inquiry. The USB-C port on your JBL Charge 5 is only for charging the speaker itself, while the USB-A port can be used to charge your phone or other devices.
