just slide them on to the the pad, and put the remotes and pad into the dock station to charge. They sell off brand travel kits too on amazon that come with a charging station.

The controllers also charge if they are hooked to the switch and it is docked. No need for an extra joy-con charger

You simply dock the switch with the joycons attached it will charge the controllers and the switch.

If the Switch console is in the docking station charging, you can still attach the Joy-Cons to the sides of the Switch console and it charges the controllers as well.
