Kinect is best but a mobile cell phone will work or possibly a iPod touch. Kinect actually will record you and gets the best what the game offers.

You can use your phone with the app. Best way to play is with the Xbox kinetic. The kinect have been discontinued but can be bought from games stop for 50$. Bad thing is you need a special adapter to be able to use it with the Xbox one. Only third-party adapter is available and it is a hit or miss.

The game has to have something to recognize your movement. For the longest time, we used the just dance controller app. Keep in mind that the xbox one has to be on the same wireless network (ssid) as the cell phone or tablet (we used both). 

You can also use the kinect (which is discontinued). If you have the x box one s, you will need the kinect and the adapter to connect it to the system.

The only thing that is required outside of the xbox one is a compatible smart phone to use as the controller when dancing. If you have the xbox kinect, then a smart phone is not required. Hope this helps

Yes, you need to have the Kinect device. You can buy it online. But you need to be aware that if you have an XBOX one console (old) version. The device entrance is a customized for the Kinect only. If you have an Xbox S or X you will need the adapter to convert the custom entrance to an USB. Also you can find it on retail websites.
