Will this support a 3 year old HP Envy laptop null

Without knowing exactly which model of Envy you have, the most important thing is that the dock connects by USB 3.0, so if your Envy doesn't have any spare USB 3.0 ports, that would be a problem. This would be the old style, larger USB port. Some laptops these days only have USB-C ports, which wouldn't work for this dock, at least without some converters.
