If you're brewing black tea this is not going to be nearly hot enough. Green tea should work. Incidentally, never boil water in a microwave as someone else mentioned on here. It is extremely dangerous to boil water in a microwave (I thought that was common knowledge) use a kettle or a pot of water on the stove.

Really love that I can get hot water really quickly with out having to put it in the microwave or watching a kettle boil on the stove. Also it heats just the amount I put in, not heating up excessive water.
