“I am trying to connect basic surround sound speakers that came with my apartment to my tv. I need some sort of converter to connect the wires to the tv. Will this do the trick?”

Everything from my television goes into my Sony receiver which then transfers the audio sound to my four speakers, plus I get regular sound from my television. Getting a receiver will solve a lot of sound connection problems.
