I'm going to assume that your concern is that the dishes will bang into each other and be damaged. I have not had that problem with our dinner dishes, but one trick that you might try is to insert the dishes into the tines diagonally. The obviously won't affect the height of the tines, but it might change the spacing between the tines and hold the dishes more securely in an upright position. I do this with my cutting boards, but they are thicker than an average dinner dish. Good luck.
