QuestionWhere does the steam vent out of this dishwasher(model KDPE334GPS)? Worried it might damage the cabinets.

- Answer Woody, the dishwasher does not have an exterior vent. As steam collects inside the dishwasher it then drains out through the drain line.

QuestionHow do you adjust the tynes on the middle shelf? Manual says adjustable to three positions. But not how to. And it’s not obvious other than in very back you can make them fall totally down.

- Answer I had to contact kitchenaid for this same question. Turns out there's a full manual they don't give you with the machine. I had to ask them to email it to me. It's pretty straightforward once you see how it works. The tines only go fully up or down. The entire SHELF moves up and down in three positions. To move the tines: the last tine towards the back snaps into a plastic holder-clip type thing. You just gently pull that one tine forward toward the front of the machine, and it should pop out. The whole row will then easily fall down. To move the shelf: hold the shelf with both hands and press those buttons with your thumbs. The shelf still then be able to move freely. When you let go of the buttons, it will click into place when you move it.

QuestionIs the lower rack on tracks

- Answer There is not a "track" in the typical sense like the middle rack is on. The lower rack has wheels that roll across the actual door of the unit when it is open. Because the lower rack is not affixed to anything, it can be lifted out of the dishwasher all together with no mechanism holding it down. It is the weight of the actual rack that keeps it on "track." The sides of the door (when open) have curbs that keep the wheels in the center of the door so the rack does not move side-to-side and roll off the door when it is open.

This filtration system minimizes sound and optimizes water and energy conservation while providing superior cleaning. The filter system consists of two parts, an upper filter assembly and a lower filter. IMPORTANT: To avoid damage to dishwasher, do not operate your dishwasher without filters properly installed. Be sure lower filter is securely in place and upper filter assembly is locked into place. If upper assembly turns freely, it is not locked into place. Hopefully this information is beneficial to you. - Answer No, it has a mesh catch cup in the bottom of the dishwasher. You can easily empty it once a week/month and simply rinse. The absence of a food grinder and the motor that drives it is what helps make this dishwasher so quiet.

- Answer Yes it can come out if you need the room However the middle rack adjusts a good amount to accommodate taller items . It also has 3 bottle washer jets that be folded down out of the way .

QuestionI am having trouble with our plates falling/tilting when loaded on bottom rack. What is the height measurement of the rack tines? Is it possible to change out the bottom rack for a rack with taller tines?

- Answer I'm going to assume that your concern is that the dishes will bang into each other and be damaged. I have not had that problem with our dinner dishes, but one trick that you might try is to insert the dishes into the tines diagonally. The obviously won't affect the height of the tines, but it might change the spacing between the tines and hold the dishes more securely in an upright position. I do this with my cutting boards, but they are thicker than an average dinner dish. Good luck.

QuestionWe just purchased. Regarding the upper rack where you place your cups and glasses. When you pull out the rack, is there supposed to be tension on the rack when you pull it out so it stays in place? Want to make sure there isn't something defective.

QuestionI used my new dishwasher for the first time and noticed that NO water came out of the drain cap which was installed on the new faucet. Is this normal for no water to come out of the drain cap during a cycle? The model is 24" Built in dishwasher. KDPE334G

- Answer Hello babs! To raise the rack: Press both rack adjuster thumb levers and lift the rack until it is in the up position and level. To lower the rack: Press both rack adjuster thumb levers and slide the rack to its down position and level.

QuestionAre you able to put plastic storage containers on the top rack? Or the third rack? Do they dry well? I have read that in most dishwashers the plastic does not dry so I am wondering how well plastic dries in this dishwasher.
