This range is not considered a true slide in, so it can easily replace a freestanding unit. A standard freestanding range has the oven controls and display on the ranges backguard. A Traditional slide in range has a lip that hangs over your countertop, unfinished sides, no backguard, and the display and oven controls are on the front of the range. What most now consider slide in ranges are actually freestanding front control ranges, they have finished sides and controls in the front with no backguard. These units allow you to easily replace a freestanding range without having to adjust any cabinetry or countertops and still give you the same look as a slide in range.
